The start of a new year seems refreshing because that’s when we get most excited about planning things we want to accomplish. I understand why people wait until the new year to start doing something, but why wait when you can start now? But I wouldn’t lie to myself about waiting until the new year to start doing something. As men, we strive to accomplish great things in our lives in order to better ourselves and grow as individuals. As for me, I would like to share some of those ideas that I think will help me grow as a Christian masculine man.
One Year Bible Study Plan
Reading the Bible is very important in our daily lives. It’s what helps us stay close to God and connect to His holy word. When I read the Bible, I read sections of it and a mix of books from the Old and New Testaments. In the one-year bible study plan, my goal for the year is to read the Bible in chronological order. That is how I will reading the Bible as God intended us to read it.
Working Out
Working out is the number one thing on peoples list’s to do for the new year. As for me, I only do push-ups, sit-ups, and squats without equipment almost every day. I have a busy life since i’m a full time student, and work full time at my job. Balancing my everyday workout is no problem, but trying to go to a gym is hard since most of the gyms in my area open at 9am and close at 11pm. That time doesn’t balances out in my daily life. What I started to do is to invest in building my own gym at home with the necessary equipment I need to workout efficiently. I pray that by the end of the year, I will have my own gym and be able to balance a healthy lifestyle at home.
Ice Baths
Ice baths are something I've always wanted to try. I live in Chicago, and in my state we get the worst winter storms, and the temperatures get as low as -20 degrees. I intend to take an ice bath every day for thirty days during the summer of 2023. only because of the benefits it will provide in a mentally and physically sound way. One of those benefits includes improving your mental health, helping you be more disciplined, relieving sore muscles, improving your breathing, and reducing inflammation and swelling. It's no surprise that boxers and athletes choose ice baths as an important part of their recovery and conditioning.
Participating In Church
Lastly, going to church is not a big deal. When we go to church, we worship God, and once we leave church, we forget about what the preacher preached about. When I go to church, I always take notes because they help me highlight the important things the preacher is teaching us. We only think about the church one day a week, when in reality we should be thinking about our local church every day. As part of my New Year's resolution, my goal is to participate in my local church in whatever way they need help. The church always needs help from fellow Christians, and it is our job to help the church. My church always needs help financially, planning events, and promoting itself through social media. Whatever the need is, fill it.
